Uploading Your Site
with Cute FTP
These instructions
are written for use with CuteFTP 4.0. If you do not have CuteFTP 4.0, an
evaluation version is available at www.cuteftp.com.
Although our service is compatible with many different FTP clients, we have
provided information for the most used FTP client for your convenience.
Instructions
These instructions are only for individuals
with a direct Internet connection, via modem or network. If you are behind a
firewall or proxy server, the information below may not work. Consult your
network administrator for more information.
Connecting to Your Web Site
- Start
CuteFTP.
- Click
on File and scroll down to Site Manager.
- Click
New in FTP Site Manager window.
- Complete
these fields in the Site Settings window as described below.

Label for Site - A method of identifying the connection. It will
appear in the left most box of the connect window.

FTP Host Address - The domain name* ,
for example: www.yourdomain.com.

User ID - Your administrator username.
·
Password - Your administrator password.
·
FTP Site connection port - leave as 21
- Click
the Connect button.
Uploading Files to
Your Web Site/Downloading Files from Your Web Site
- Log
in
- The
CuteFTP main window, which is used to transfer
files to and from your Web site will display.
Note:
The left frame is your local files list and the right frame is your Web server
files list.
- Locate
the files and/or directories on either your local or remote file list.
- Select
the files you wish to transfer.
- Click
the upload or download button.
Note: in
order for your site to show up when you type in your domain name into a web
browser, the first page or the home page must be named one of these file names:
index.htm
index.html
index.cfm
default.htm
default.html
default.cfm
